“I love the daily hectic and vibrance that are part of my job”
Teamleader Operations Tim already had various positions at Ewals Cargo Care in just under 10 years. As an experienced team member at the Planning Department, he knows everything about the organisation.
“I started out at Customer Service, where I was responsible for our shipments to Sweden. Next, I switched to another position in which I was dedicated to one of our largest customers, after which I focused on the daily planning for the Benelux. Over the past years, I managed virtually all countries in our network. Every step of the way also increased the pressure, requiring me to develop myself. I currently work as a Floater, which means I step in for other colleagues if they are absent due to illness or holidays. The ability to step in right away requires skills, and my experience at other planning positions taught me those.
In addition to my daily tasks, I also work on several side projects. I’m currently focusing on efficiency improvements by reducing unnecessary e-mail traffic. This adds a nice variety to my work, although the planning work remains my favourite. Whether this means I’m troubleshooting the daily planning, or puzzle to get everything right in the preplanning, I love the daily hectic and vibrance that are part of my job.
The variation and great colleagues are the most important reasons for the fact that I’ve been having such a great time at Ewals for such a long time. My job has so many facets that I never get bored. Although my colleagues and I sometimes work right on the edge, and we’re always honest to each other, it’s never at the expense of our mutual relations and we often have a laugh together. We go downtown, participate in international football tournaments, play indoor football once a month with a group of colleagues and regularly go on excursions together.
I also participated in the Young Potential Programme. With this platform for young colleagues, we jointly work on various projects and turn ideas into tangible solutions. I worked on creating a buddy system, in which new staff members are supported by a more experienced colleague. This helps them to settle more quickly and comfortably within Ewals and their own position. Soon, we will also start an exchange project with our offices in the Czech Republic in which I’ll support a Czech colleague planner to get settled here. These kinds of initiatives, and the liberty to conceptualise your own ideas and projects, turns working here into a wonderful experience.
